As the world’s leading yacht charter company, we are always looking to encourage new people to join us on a sailing holiday, even if they can’t sail. After introducing our innovative by the cabin yacht charter package, we wanted to take it to the next level and offer our customers the chance to sail privately on their own yacht, even if they don’t have any sailing experience. So we are thrilled to offer another charter type to our offering, this time in the form of skippered charters.
Not to be confused with crewed charters, our skippered charters are available for those who would like to sail on a yacht all by themselves and still have the freedom to eat and drink wherever and whenever they like, but also have a qualified skipper onboard to sail the yacht and assist with the itinerary. All of our skippers have a mountain of local knowledge so are a real asset to what will soon become your holiday of a lifetime.
Take a look at our guide to what’s involved in a skippered charter, and start planning your next sailing holiday with us today.
What is a skippered yacht charter?
Imagine getting onboard your very own private yacht for a week sailing around the beautiful islands of the Grenadines or the Med, no one to tell you when to get up, what to eat and drink and most importantly, not having to race to a sunbed every morning to ensure you get your desired spot in the sun. But wait, neither yourself or your partner can actually sail a yacht. Dream over, right? Wrong! Introducing our new skippered charters!
These bespoke charter types are available to all Dream Yacht Charter customers who want the freedom of having a yacht all to themselves but who need a qualified professional to sail it for them. All you need to do is pick a destination and a yacht, contact our specialist sales team and tell them you would like a skipper to join you on your journey. We’ll do the rest! Easy peasy!
What are the benefits of a skippered yacht charter?
Skippered charters are a great way to explore the world by boat, even if you have no prior sailing experience. Our qualified skippers all have heaps of experience, so as soon as you step onboard, you can all discuss an itinerary with a little help on the best places to go. In addition, they can give you advice on the best places to eat and drink too.
While some people like the idea of just relaxing and letting their skipper take them wherever they want to go, others will enjoy the opportunity to get to know a little more about sailing, maybe even giving the skipper a hand and learning a little bit about the basics, perhaps ready for you to take your own RYA training course when you return to the UK. Couple these benefits with the fact that you’ll be able to enjoy the entire yacht to yourselves for the duration of your sailing charter, and you have yourself an amazing holiday experience.
Who are skippered charters suitable for?
Anyone! Even if you can sail and do have the qualifications to do so, sometimes it’s just nice to not have to worry about doing anything while on holiday, really taking advantage of a week’s worth of R&R.
How does a skippered charter work?
It’s easy! Just choose the yacht and destination you’d like to go to and give our specialist sales team a call who will then arrange everything for you. We’ll get everything ready and the skipper will even monitor all of the local weather, so all you need to do is show up and enjoy yourself.
